This month we took part in the TUSLA Attendance initiative Every School Day Counts. We were delighted today to give a small treat to the 134 pupils who had full attendance for the month of November. And despite the usual winter bug we still managed an attendance rate of 95%. Well done to everyone who managed to be in school each day.
Our Junior Infant pupils continue to enjoy Aistear (in the ‘Playroom’ as they now call it!) This term the children are learning all about Home.
At each station there is a different task and experience for the children. At the art station they are cutting and pasting to create homes. At the Small World station they are retelling and role playing the story of Goldilocks. There is a construction station where the challenge is to build a home. But the firm favourite is the sand station where the children search for and sort pictures of different homes.
The children and loving this new theme and we encourage parents to chat to their children about their home and about what they have done at each station. These pictures will help start the conversation.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Team Hope Christmas Shoe Box Appeal 2019.
As you can see from the photograph, we had an amazing response with 196 shoe boxes being donated to this worthy cause.
The Team Hope Appeal is a particularly nice charity to support as the children get to see first hand how they can help poorer children in a practical, simple way.
