Happy Halloween

After a busy Maths Week, the children enjoyed a very ‘Fancy Dress Friday’ as we celebrated the Halloween Break. Ghouls and Goblins, Witches and Wizards, Minions and Marshmallows wandered through the school in a blaze of colour and smiles!

Our Parents’ Council organised an art competition to celebrate Halloween and on Friday, Chairperson Fiona Connors presented smashing prizes to the winning entrants. Well done to all the boys and girls who did some wonderful artwork for this competition and thank you to Fiona and all the Parents’ Council for organising the event.

Maths & More!

This week we celebrated Maths Week. The children enjoyed a different Maths challenge each day. I must say a huge thank you to our wonderful team here in the Pres who worked so hard all week to bring Maths to life in a fun and interactive way.

Some of this week’s challenges!

Pupils also enjoyed Maths Trails, Bingo and a Maths Quiz. We hope the week helped the boys and girls to see Maths in a fun and real way. Perhaps at home you can ask your child to use their Maths Eyes to see numbers, shapes, times and measure all around your home.

Recently the girls from Third Class finally got to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. We congratulate them on this special occasion. A big thank you to Fr. Joe and all the volunteers in the Cathedral who helped make the day so special for the girls and their families.

Each year the pupils are invited to take part in the Pentel Art Competition. Ms. Sheridan organises the competition and every year our school produces a number of winners. The Pentel prizes are just wonderful and we hope the pupils enjoy the experience and the spoils!

Nearly 40 pupils have enjoyed GAA Football training after school each Monday. It has felt like summer-time on some of the evenings as the girls develop the skills of the game from the experienced coaches! Sport is a wonderful way of keeping the body and mind healthy and everyone really enjoys the hour after school each Monday.

As part of our Wellbeing programme, every pupil was involved in planting hundreds of bulbs on our school grounds. Our Caretaker Kieran guided the pupils to plant a variety of bulbs including daffodils, tulips and Irises. They even tried ‘lasagne planting’!!

Green Flag Ceremony

We felt very proud today as we were presented with our 5th Green Flag from Green Schools Ireland at an online awards ceremony.

The Green Schools Committee gathered in the hall, along with coordinators Ms. Everard and Ms Laura Ralph, to watch the online event.

We were one of only 3 schools from Tipperary to receive a Green Flag for Biodiversity this year.

Well done to all the committee members, to the coordinators and indeed the whole school community who worked so hard over the past two years to achieve this flag.

Star Pupils 🌟

Each month we award Star Pupil Awards to children who make an extra special effort in a variety of different topics. This month the award was for Kindness and Manners. Next month is Sports and Activity. Later in the year we will celebrate Creativity, Friendship, Maths, Irish and Goodwill. Here are the Star Pupils for September.
