The aim of Active Week is to promote, encourage and support physical activities in school. Being active is essential to a child’s development. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that children should be active for at least 60 minutes each day.

This week we celebrated activity in all its forms and the children enjoyed a fantastic week full of fun. The children embraced new activities such as pilates and enjoyed learning about the importance of healthy eating.

On Wednesday each class grouping enjoyed a dodgeball tournament in the halla with the triumphant teams receiving medals.

Next on the agenda was Orienteering around our beautiful school grounds using a map. Some children were searching for letters, others for numbers and some were solving riddles but most of all everyone had fun!

Up next was a new addition to Active Week – Pilates. Thankfully the sun was shining which allowed us to do Pilates outdoors under the shade of one of our beautiful Maple trees. The children floated back to class after their Pilates class.

Of course this is all made possible with the help of our wonderful staff who worked hard to make Active Week 2023 one of the best yet. Well done to all.
