‘Tipp, Tipp, Tipp was the chant as Padraic Maher entered the Nagle Hall this morning, as he held aloft the Liam McCarthy Cup to rapturous applause. It was a sea of Blue & Gold as the pupils donned our county colours to celebrate Tipperary winning the All Ireland Senior Hurling title this year.

Joining Padraic was Andy Ryan (GDA Tipperary), John Smith (County Board Representative) and Rachel Sweeney (Tipperary Ladies Intermediate Football Player). Isabelle Griffin formally welcomed them to the Presentation Primary School. Later pupils quizzed Paudie about his favourite game, toughest opponent, training routine and biggest achievements.

Rachel Sweeney became very popular once she announced that the pupils would get homework off tonight before encouraging all the pupils to get involved in some sport.

The hall then filled with the sound of the Galtee Mountain Boy and the sense of joy was palpable. Most importantly today, every pupil got their hands on the Liam McCarthy Cup and below are over 100 photos capturing the day. We hope the words of wisdom from Padraic and Rachel will inspire these pupils to chase their dreams and get involved in sport.

Thanks to all who helped make today so special – to those who decorated the hall, played and conducted music, took photos, played tin whistles, asked questions and especially those who cheered and smiled!
