Our U11 Camogie Team

Our U11 Camogie team took part in the Cumann na mBunscol Camogie Blitz in Holycross recently. This was the first time our new sports jerseys were worn and these girls certainly wore them with pride.

Pep talk time!

Mr. O’Gorman and Ms. Bohan had been training the camogie teams for the past number of weeks and the level of skill on show was testament to the great efforts of their coaches. In their first game the girls faced up against Gaelscoil Thurles. Goals from Ailish Ryan and Ava Fitzgibbon put the Pres in a commanding position. With Lily O’Dowd and Ava Byrne refusing to yield an inch in the back line, Gaelscoil found it difficult to get through on goal where Mollie Carroll stood tall to anything that came her way. Hanna Witkowska and Nancy Shanahan were introduced at half time and both were busy around the middle of the field. In the end Presentation Primary won out and headed to the second game with confidence.

The second game was against our near neighbours Scoil Angela Ursuline. Eva Mulhaire and Emma Egan were to the fore in this game, controlling the midfield and scoring well. Kate Lydon and Katie Connors were eager to impress and got stuck in from the outset. Up front Sarah Minogue and Sireen Alhariri worked together to score a crucial goal ensuring the Presentation Primary would head for the final game unbeaten.

The final game pitted Presentation Primary against Holycross who were also unbeaten, effectively a county semi final and all to play for. In a tight game both teams played some wonderful hurling. With the scores level at half time it was clear that these two teams meant business and it would be difficult to separate them. In the end Holycross got the crucial scores and now progress to the county final in Semple Stadium. We wish them well and can feel proud that each year we are getting closer and closer to that great prize of playing in the Field of Dreams.

Well done to all involved, our coaches Donal and Karen, Avril for her support on the day, the parents who came to cheer us on and especially the girls who wore our new wine jerseys with pride and determination.
