There was an incredible sense of excitement, pride and determination as our volleyball team travelled to the All Ireland Primary School Volleyball Championship last Thursday — and what a day it turned out to be!
From the very first serve, our girls were simply outstanding. Displaying superb teamwork, skill and composure throughout the day, they went unbeaten from start to finish — a phenomenal achievement at this level. Along the way, they recorded impressive victories over teams from Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Cavan and no fewer than three teams from Galway.
The final saw them face a strong Maree NS side, but our girls rose to the occasion once again, delivering a fantastic performance to secure the title and etch their names into school history as All-Ireland Champions!

Team captain Ailish had the honour of proudly accepting the trophy on behalf of her teammates — a moment that will live long in the memory. She was joined by an exceptional panel of players: Juliette, Sieanna, Ava, Sarah, Sireen, Emma-Jane and Meadhbh, all of whom played their part in this incredible success.
A special mention must go to Kate Lydon, who unfortunately could not be with us on the day due to a family bereavement. Kate played a huge role in helping the team reach the finals with her brilliant performances in the regional stages, and this victory is very much shared with her.
This triumph is particularly sweet as it marks our school’s first ever All-Ireland volleyball title, having come so close in recent years with two final defeats. The joy and pride on the day were truly unforgettable.
The celebrations continued on the journey home with a well-earned stop in Burger King for a celebratory feast — a fitting reward for a team that gave absolutely everything!
A huge thank you must go to the dedicated coaches Kieran Healy, Caroline Ryan and Ciara Fanning, whose commitment and enthusiasm — giving up countless lunch breaks and after-school hours — made this success possible. It was clear to see that they were just as thrilled as the players at the final whistle.

Back at school, the celebrations continued with a special assembly where the entire school community gathered to recognise this remarkable achievement. Mr. Healy also captured the day in a fantastic video, which is now available to watch on our school’s YouTube channel.
This was more than just a sporting victory — it was a celebration of teamwork, perseverance and school spirit.
We are incredibly proud of our All-Ireland Champions — history makers and role models for all! 🏆👏
