Yesterday was a truly special day for our school as we hosted the Volleyball Ireland Regional Finals right here in Thurles for the very first time. It was a brilliant occasion filled with excitement, teamwork and fantastic sporting spirit.
Presentation Primary School was proudly represented by three teams â the Presentation Pythons, the Presentation Panthers and the Presentation Pandas. All three teams played superbly throughout the day, competing in three group games against Ballyneale NS, Ayle NS and St. Joseph’s NS Templemore.
There were some excellent matches across both groups, with our teams showing great determination and skill. At the end of the group stages, the Presentation Pythons topped Group A, while the Presentation Panthers finished top of Group B, meaning both teams progressed to the semi-finals.
The Panthers faced a strong Ballyneale NS side in their semi-final and, despite a determined performance, were narrowly defeated. Meanwhile, the Pythons produced a fantastic display to overcome St. Joseph’s Templemore, securing their place in the final and, most importantly, qualifying for the National Finals.
The National Finals will take place next Thursday in the impressive Sports Arena at University of Limerick, and we are incredibly proud to have our school represented on such a stage.
A huge congratulations must go to our coaches and players who have been training so diligently over the past number of months. An incredible 48 boys and girls initially took part in the training programme, with 21 players representing the school in yesterdayâs matches. Even more exciting is the fact that 10 of those players are still in 5th class, which means the future of volleyball in Presentation Primary looks very bright indeed!
Well done to all involved for representing our school with such pride, enthusiasm and teamwork. We wish the Presentation Pythons the very best of luck in the National Finals next week.
Go Pythons!
