Monday, 8th June 2026 will forever hold a special place in the history of Presentation Primary School as our incredible Under 11 Camogie team captured the school’s first-ever Cumann na mBunscol U11 County Camogie Title.
In the most fitting of settings, the iconic Semple Stadium, often referred to as the “Field of Dreams”, our girls produced a performance full of skill, determination and heart to defeat Ballylooby National School.
There were some wonderful links to the past on a memorable day. Back in 2006 when our school won a U13 county title, Ms. Karen Bohan was one of the players involved. This time she wasstanding proudly on the sideline as teacher and coach of a new generation of champions. Coincidentally, Ballylooby were also the opposition on that day!
From the throw-in, the game was played at a phenomenal pace. Both teams were determined to stamp their authority on the contest, but early points from midfield duo Poppy Shanahan and Quinn Corbett helped settle any nerves in the Presentation ranks.
The atmosphere inside Semple Stadium was truly unforgettable. Every child from Second to Sixth Class travelled to support the team and created an incredible wall of noise from the stands. We were also delighted to see so many parents, grandparents, family members and friends in attendance, all proudly cheering on the girls in wine.
Among those spotted in the crowd was former pupil and Tipperary All-Star Karen Kennedy, who was a member of the last Presentation team to contest a county final in 2009. Her presence served as a reminder of the rich sporting tradition that continues to inspire our young players today.
As the first half unfolded in glorious sunshine, Presentation began to take control. A brilliantly taken goal from the elusive Fiadh Ryan opened up daylight between the sides and gave the team a well-deserved cushion. At the back, Allie McLoughlin and Sinead Brophy were immense, attacking every ball with determination and winning crucial tackles throughout the game. Ballylooby threatened on several occasions, but goalkeeper Aoife Gleeson was alert and assured, producing an excellent save to preserve a vital clean sheet before half-time.
Further forward, Annabelle Butler worked tirelessly, harrying defenders and making life difficult for every Ballylooby attack. Her relentless effort would later be rewarded with a well-taken goal in the second half.
When Ballylooby responded with a goal and a point after the interval, there was a brief moment of tension. However, Presentation’s strength in depth quickly came to the fore. Substitutes Meadhbh Larkin and Emer Dorney made an immediate impact, both finding the net within minutes of entering the field and restoring the team’s momentum.
At the heart of everything positive was the outstanding midfield partnership of Quinn Corbett and Poppy Shanahan. Their work rate, skill and determination provided the platform for Presentation’s success and ensured that the girls remained on the front foot throughout.
As the final whistle sounded, scenes of joy erupted among players, coaches and supporters alike. The girls in wine had done it. History had been made. Presentation Primary were County Camogie Champions for the very first time at Under 11 level.
Captains Sinead Brophy and Aoife Gleeson proudly accepted the trophy on behalf of a remarkable group of players who have now completed an extraordinary Under 11 Football and Camogie double.
This victory was about far more than silverware. It reflected months of dedication, teamwork, encouragement and friendship. Every member of the panel played their part in a journey that will be remembered for many years to come. We thank Ms. Karen Bohan, Mr. Donal O’Gorman, Mr. Donnacha Dunne and Mr Kieran Healy for their dedication and encouragement of this team throughout the year.
