Today the pupils from Junior Infants, Senior Infants and Seoidín enjoyed a visit from Farmer Fern and her farm animals. Ducks, sheep, goats and rabbits provided great excitement for the children who learned about each of the farm animals and got to hold or pet each of them.
The pupils from Ms. Gleeson and Ms. King’s classes enjoyed a super school tour to Fota Wildlife Park today – even if they did get a little wet!! However the drizzle failed to dampen the spirits as the boys and girls got to see and learn about some amazing animals.
School Tour Season got under way this week as Mrs. Sheridan’s and Ms. Ryan’s Senior Infants pupils headed to Dreamland in Limerick. The boys and girls had a magical day of dress up, imaginary play, dancing and fun. Dreamland is the brainchild of Shay Kinsella and part of the Share A Dream Foundation. Ms. Walsh’s 3rd and 4th class girls then enjoyed a tour to Bunratty Folk Park in Limerick on Thursday. The girls experienced a tour of an old Irish town including a school from the 1950s. Later they enjoyed some bowling. Another great day was had by all.
Over 60 girls took part in the School Camogie Leagues today and really enjoyed a fun and active afternoon. For some girls, this was their first time ever to try our most traditional Irish sport. Pupils from second and third class competed in the Junior League while the Senior League involved pupils from fourth and fifth class. Each league had four teams – Limerick, Clare, Cork and of course Tipperary. The games were hotly contested and there were some wonderful skills on show. Morning Service: Busy Bees will be available for all children in the school from 8am in the morning. Your child can be dropped to room 1 where they will be supervised safely in the building until class starts at 8.50. Activities will be laid out in the room for their enjoyment. Light snacks will also be available. Evening Service: After-School is available from 1.30pm till 5pm from Junior Infants upwards. Our U13 camogie team enjoyed a great day of camogie in Templemore on Tuesday last. The girls got off to a flying start, beating Templemore in the first game. Throughout the day the girls continued to be very competitive but came up short against very strong Newport and Tipperary Town teams. Special thanks to Mr. O’Gorman, Ms. Ralph and Ms. Bohan who prepared the girls so well for the Cumann na mBunscol competitions.
Our Basketball team had a superb day in the Presentation Sports Complex on Thursday last as they took part in the inaugural Margaret Curran Cup. Having beaten Holycross and Two Mile Borris, the girls progressed to play Littleton NS in the Cup final in front of a vocal and enthusiastic crowd. Unfortunately the girls came up against a very strong Littleton team and were narrowly beaten, however this was a very special day and one that the girls will remember for as a great day in their primary school lives.
