There was great excitement in the Presentation Sports Complex recently as we hosted the annual Margaret Curran Cup Basketball Tournament. A total of 26 girls represented our school across two teams, the Presentation Panthers and the Presentation Pythons, with every player enjoying plenty of game time throughout a fantastic day of basketball.

The Margaret Curran Cup is a special event in our school calendar. Margaret was a much-loved colleague and friend whose passion for basketball inspired countless pupils over the years. We are proud to continue celebrating her memory through this tournament each year.

This year’s competition welcomed teams from Scoil Angela, Littleton, Two Mile Borris, Templemore and Holycross. The standard of basketball was exceptionally high, with all schools displaying wonderful skill, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day.

After a series of exciting matches, the Presentation Pythons once again reached the Cup Final where they produced an outstanding performance to reclaim the Margaret Curran Cup. In doing so, they dethroned Templemore, who were worthy champions last year. This victory marks a remarkable achievement for our school as we have now won the tournament for the third time.

The Presentation Panthers also performed brilliantly throughout the day, contributing to a memorable occasion for our school and showcasing the depth of basketball talent within our ranks.

A special word of thanks to Margaret’s husband, Ger, who joined us to present the medals and cup and to share a few kind words with all participants. We also extend our gratitude to the staff, referees, volunteers and visiting schools who helped make the day such a success.

Finally, sincere thanks to Ms. Karen Bohan, Ms. Noelle Nyhan and Mr. Kieran Healy for their dedication in preparing the girls for the tournament.

Congratulations to all of our players on a wonderful achievement. We are incredibly proud of you all.
